This desk is supported, in part, by affiliate relationships: some outbound links to third-party sites may earn a commission if a reader signs up or takes a specific action through them. This page explains what that does and doesn’t change about what we publish.
What commission doesn’t buy
We don’t publish operator ratings or “best of” rankings here at all, so there is no ranking position for a commission arrangement to move. We don’t accept payment to describe a licensing framework or a testing process more favourably than the facts support, and an affiliate relationship with a company doesn’t change how we describe the regulatory or testing standards that apply to it.
What it does affect
It affects which third-party sites we’re commercially connected to and, honestly, part of why this desk can keep operating without a subscription paywall. Where a specific outbound link on this site is a paid or affiliate link, that’s disclosed at the point the link appears, not just here on a page most readers never reach.
Editorial separation
Commercial arrangements and editorial content are handled separately: nothing here is written or edited by an advertiser, and no piece is commissioned by a company being discussed in it. If that separation ever breaks down on a specific piece, we’d rather hear about it — the contact page is the way to flag it.
