Fair-Play Testing

Fair-Play Testing

Fair-Play Testing is about the independent labs that check whether a game’s random number generator actually behaves the way its math says it should, and how often that check gets repeated rather than done once at launch and left alone. A certification seal answers a narrower question than most players assume it does — it says a sample of outcomes matched an expected distribution on the date it was tested, not that every version of the game since has been re-checked. This shelf explains what that testing process covers, what it doesn’t, and why the gap between the two matters more the longer a game has been live without a fresh audit.

RNG testing itself is a statistical exercise: a lab runs a very large number of simulated rounds and checks whether the distribution of outcomes matches the theoretical return-to-player the game claims. That’s a meaningful check, but it’s a snapshot — it says the tested build behaved correctly on the sample run, not that every subsequent patch, jackpot adjustment or platform migration has preserved that behaviour. A responsible operator re-submits a game for testing after a material change; nothing structurally forces that beyond the licensing jurisdiction’s own requirements, which is exactly why licensing and fair-play testing are two separate shelves on this desk rather than one.

We also look at what a certification does and doesn’t cover beyond the RNG itself — whether it extends to the game’s payout table, its bonus-round logic, or just the base random number generation underneath everything. A seal that only covers the RNG core says less than a badge implies if the game’s advertised bonus odds were never independently checked at all. Where that distinction is publicly documented by a testing lab, we point to it; where it isn’t, we say so rather than assuming the broader claim.
